Black Hen Publishing is a community publishing house established to provide a voice for people within local communities. We were founded in 2000 by two mothers who were frustrated by the lack of a voice for their concerns.

Play-times magazine is produced by Black Hen Publishing. It is designed to foster a supportive local community for the well-being of all our children. We aim to nurture a supportive child friendly local community by providing information about local childcare and activities for the under fives and showcasing the best in the area. We wish to support local community activities that advantage children, therefore we have designed a pricing structure that will enable organisations, such as play-groups and pre-schools to raise much needed funds from the sale of play-times.
